If you are not from Rhode Island, you've probably heard how corrupt the state seems to be. The Dept. of Justice could spend 100 years investigating the politicians in Rhode Island and not uncover all the crap that happens on Smith Hill, not to mention all the various cities and towns that make up the smallest state. Here is another example from the
Providence Journal of something that, while not directly implicating the Mayor of Providence in an illegal activity, it sure casts him in a bad light. Don't forget, we're talking about someone who had his sights set on running for the office of Governor, and a very serious contender, just last year. I doubt he would consider running now, but then again, this is Rhode Island. Where does the Cicilliar come into play? Read the story, tell me how everyone knows about his brother writing a bad check for $75,000 to the City of Providence, and he tells the Journal that he wasn't aware until last week. Dude, his chief of staff knew about it, his director of administration knew about it, his finance director knew about it, but David Cicilline didn't know. The City Tax Office tried to get the mayor's brother John Cicilline to make good on the check for over two years, but David Cicilline didn't know until last week. Read the story, and like
Judge Frank Caprio says in the Court in Providence cable access show, "you be the judge".
